Overview
Understand how Commissioning begins in the Warehouse and is incremental along the project’s lifecycle – quality cannot be inspected in at the end. Use of commissioning / service transition checklists. Understand the steps involved in gaining Client acceptance of the project (through incremental sign-offs at milestones) and the importance of Substantial Completion / training / punch list items. Substantial complation signifies the transition to the warranty phase of the project – the Client has taken “ownership” of its usage.
Why is this session important?
Commissioning and Substantial Completion are critical activities and milestones within a successful integration project – hopefully they are not accidental. Both rely on prerequisites to be fulfilled from the inception of the project – from design through procurement / warehouse through rough and final installation – all managed with interim milestones and sign-offs – both internally to the project and externally with Clients. Quality cannot be inspected in – it must be built into the system to ensure performance. Substantial Completion is a critical milestone which moves the system into warranty – whether that be a room, a system, a building, etc. Many organizations allow the Client to use the system themselves without tranisioning to warranty – causing “scope creep” at the end of the project and eroding profits.
